It is simple to join us 

We welcome all young music lovers under the age of 15 who have been learning orchestral instruments for over 2 years to join our Junior Orchestra, and all young music lovers under the age of 25 who have been learning orchestral instruments for over 5 years to join our Concert Orchestra. Join and enjoy the benefits!.

Young musicians under the age of 20 and have been playing any of above instruments more than 5 years are welcome to join The Sydney Hills Youth Orchestra (SHYO) Rehearsal time: Friday, 7.30 pm - 9.30 pm

Young musicians under the age of 15 and have been playing any of above instruments more than 2 years are welcome to join The Sydney Hills Junior Orchestra (SHJO): Rehearsal time: Friday, 6.00 pm - 7.30 pm

How to apply

You are welcome to join us at any time.

For young musicians joining the SYS Concert Orchestras will need fill up your online Membership Registration From 

Auditions

No in person audition required but send a short video recording of your performance via WeTransfer. 

Audition Result

  • You will be notified with payment instructions should your application successful.
  • Successful members will have a website login account to access the Members Zone to download music parts. 

Membership Fees

All revenues (membership fees, concert ticket sales etc.) will go towards The SCO Foundation to be used to promote new music of the contemporary composers.
 
Membership annual fee of  $500 (for 4 school terms) is asked of each member for the Sydney Hills Junior Orchestra (SHJO).
The fee is calculated in 4 school terms blocks for new members (e.g. if you join from term 2 of the year, your membership will be extended to next year term 1).
 
For members with more than one year of membership may chose the options of payment for: 
  • $385 for 3 terms
  • $270 for 2 terms
  • $140 for 1 term.

Membership annual fee of  $600 (for 4 school terms) is asked of each member for the Sydney Hills Youth Orchestra (SHYO).
The fee is calculated in 4 school terms blocks for new members (e.g. if you join from term 2 of the year, your membership will be extended to next year term 1).

For members with more than one year of membership may chose the options of payment for: 
  • $460 for 3 terms
  • $320 for 2 terms
  • $180 for 1 term.
  
All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Payments must be completed before the first rehearsal. 
 
As a provider for the NSW Creative Kids program, you can redeem your voucher to save $100.

Membership Fee

Membership annual fee of  $600 (for 4 school terms) is asked of each member for the Sydney Hills Youth Orchestra (SHYO), and $500 for the Sydney Hills Junior Orchestra (SHJO).

All orchestra members require a formal uniform for concert performances.
